How Private Jet Pricing Works

6 MIN READPRICING & COST

Charter quotes look opaque the first time you see one. They are actually built from five clean components — once you know them, you can validate any quote in minutes.

Hourly rates

The headline number. Includes fuel, maintenance reserves, crew salaries and the operator's margin. Varies by aircraft class and operator quality.

Positioning fees

If the aircraft is not at your departure airport, the operator charges for the flight time to position it. On one-way trips, you also pay for the return ferry — which is why round-trips and empty legs are cheaper per leg.

Crew overnight costs

For multi-day trips, hotel, per diem and transport for the crew. Typically €500–€1,000 per overnight, per crew member.

Landing fees

Set by each airport. Heathrow, Nice and Aspen are among the most expensive. Some smaller European airports are essentially free.

Fuel surcharges

Adjusted monthly to market. Long-haul flights are most exposed — a Dubai → Los Angeles leg can swing $3k–$5k on fuel alone month to month.
