FAQ

Private jet airports — FAQ

What is a private jet airport?

A private jet airport is any field with an FBO (fixed-base operator) that handles business-aviation traffic — customs, handling, fuel and a private terminal. Some, like Le Bourget or Farnborough, are dedicated business-aviation airports; others share a runway with airline traffic but have a separate private terminal.

What is an FBO?

An FBO is the private terminal and ground-services company at an airport. You clear customs, immigration and security inside the FBO — typically 10 to 15 minutes from car to aircraft — instead of the main airline terminal.

Which airport should I use in London?

Farnborough (EGLF) and Luton (EGGW) are the two main London private jet airports. Farnborough is the dedicated business-aviation airport with the fastest handling; Luton runs 24/7 with more slot flexibility and shorter positioning legs from continental Europe.

Which airport should I use on the French Riviera?

Nice Côte d'Azur (LFMN) for jets up to Global-class, Cannes-Mandelieu (LFMD) for light and mid-size aircraft closer to the film festival and the port. Cannes has a runway restriction that rules out heavy jets — we route those into Nice and drive the last 25 minutes.

Do private jets use commercial airports?

Yes — through the airport's FBO or executive terminal. You skip the main terminal entirely. At slot-controlled hubs (LHR, CDG, MXP peak, JFK) private movements are limited and expensive, so we usually recommend the neighbouring executive field.

How many airports can a private jet use?

We quote into 4,565+ airports worldwide, plus thousands of small fields and heliports outside that list. A light jet can operate from ~1,200 m of paved runway, which opens up airfields no airline serves.
