Cannes-Mandelieu Airport · CEQ / LFMD · Cannes, France
Croisette-side and slot-strict — France's second-busiest business airport.
Cannes-Mandelieu (LFMD) sits eight kilometres west of La Croisette and is the closest paved runway to the Cannes Palais des Festivals, the Yachting Festival jetties and the Antibes/Cap d'Antibes hotel belt. With a published 1,640 m runway, no airline traffic and dedicated FBO handling, it is the default arrival for light and midsize charter into the Riviera — provided the aircraft, performance and slot windows align.
WHY CANNES-MANDELIEU
Cannes-Mandelieu is performance-restricted: the runway is fine for Citation XLS+, Phenom 300, Challenger 350 and similar, but heavy and ULR aircraft (Global 7500, G650, Falcon 8X) must reposition to Nice. The airport enforces a strict slot quota during the May Cannes Film Festival, June Yacht Show and September Yachting Festival — slots lock 2–4 weeks ahead. Outside event weeks Cannes-Mandelieu remains one of the easiest French Riviera airports to operate into for compatible aircraft.

No. The 1,640 m runway is fine for super-midsize aircraft like the Challenger 350 and Praetor 600, but heavy jets (G650, Global 7500, Falcon 8X) must stage through Nice. We reposition empty if you want a heavy outbound.
Slots are quota-controlled and book out 2–4 weeks ahead. Movements outside the festival window remain bookable within 24–48 hours. Helicopter shuttles between Nice and Cannes Heliport scale up during festival week.
Yes — Cannes-Mandelieu is 12 minutes from La Croisette versus 30+ from Nice. The trade-off is the aircraft restriction. We default to Cannes for compatible jets and only push to Nice when performance or slots dictate.
Yes — strict 22:00–07:00 local with no GA exemption. Late arrivals reroute to Nice; we plan rotations around it.

Book slot allocation opens in february. realistic booking window for full control of slot pair, fbo and heli connection: 10–14 weeks out. from april onward, departures are no longer guaranteed on the day requested. — slots tighten the closer to the event date. Cannes-Mandelieu suits light jets for short hops, midsize and super-midsize for 2–4 hour sectors, and heavy jets for transcontinental legs. We recommend the exact category once we know passenger count, luggage and route. See our full fleet guide for cabin layouts and range maps.
Charter cost from Cannes-Mandelieu is built from four blocks: (1) aircraft positioning to CEQ (or home-base offset), (2) flight time multiplied by hourly rate for the chosen category, (3) landing, handling and parking at Cannes-Mandelieu, and (4) concierge add-ons such as helicopter transfers or ground transport. We present a single all-inclusive number — no hidden fuel surcharges or segment fees. Visit the jet-charter-cost guide for a detailed breakdown by aircraft size.
Both. Most clients book by category (light / midsize / heavy) and we guarantee a comparable or upgraded aircraft in the same class. If you want a specific type — for example a Gulfstream G650 for a London–Cannes leg — we source the exact serial number and confirm its home base, cabin layout and crew currency before locking the quote.
Same-day departures from Cannes-Mandelieu are possible when the aircraft is already on the field or within a 90-minute positioning radius. The fastest we have executed is 2.5 hours from signed quote to wheels-up. For predictable service, especially during peak weeks, we still recommend 48–72 hours so we can reserve the preferred FBO, crew duty-rest and slot.
Yes. Cannes-Mandelieu is a high-frequency hub, which means repositioning aircraft create empty-leg opportunities daily. Discounts range from 40–75% versus a confirmed one-way, depending on how closely the published route matches your request. Browse live empty legs or set an alert — when a one-way repositioning flight lines up with your dates, we can lock it within minutes.
Distance drives two cost blocks: flight time (hourly rate × block time) and aircraft positioning. Short hops under 90 minutes from Cannes-Mandelieu often use light or midsize jets with lower hourly rates. Transcontinental and intercontinental sectors need heavy or ultra-long-range aircraft at higher rates, but the per-passenger cost can be comparable when the cabin is fully utilised. We model every route from CEQ to show the exact flight time, fuel burn and positioning offset before you commit.
Hourly rates step up by class: light jets (€3,000–€4,500/hr), midsize (€4,500–€6,500/hr), heavy (€7,500–€11,000/hr) and ultra-long-range (€11,000–€16,000/hr). The right class depends on passenger count, luggage volume and sector length from Cannes-Mandelieu. We never upsell — if a super-midsize covers your London–Cannes leg with full bags, we quote that category rather than a heavy jet. See the jet-charter-cost guide for per-category cabin photos and indicative ranges.
Peak weeks — Cannes Film Festival, Monaco Grand Prix, Art Basel, New Year — push demand at Cannes-Mandelieu up by 20–40%. Slot scarcity and crew duty-rest limits tighten supply at the same time. We publish a seasonality calendar for CEQ so you can see high-pressure windows in advance. Booking 4–6 weeks ahead locks the pre-surge rate; last-minute charters during peak events trade at market premium but still confirm within hours when aircraft are available.
