Private Jet Etiquette Guide

5 MIN READLIFESTYLE & ETIQUETTE

Private aviation is informal compared to commercial — but a few quiet conventions distinguish seasoned travellers from first-timers. None of them are obligatory; all are appreciated.

Dress code

There is none. Most travellers dress as they would for a business meeting or a comfortable evening out. Avoid stiletto heels, which can damage cabin flooring.

Tipping

Not expected, always appreciated. €100–€200 per crew member for a short trip, more for multi-day or transatlantic sectors, handed to the captain on disembarkation.

Crew etiquette

Address the captain by name. The flight attendant is there to serve, but please and thank you go a long way. The crew remembers regular guests.

Guest behaviour

Limit guests to those listed on the trip sheet for security and weight calculations. Discreet conversation about other passengers is a sign of a seasoned traveller.

Catering requests

The more specific the request, the better the result. 'Sushi from Nobu in London' is easier to deliver well than 'Asian food'.

FAQ

Frequently asked

Should I tip in cash or card?
