ASE handles more private movements over the two weeks straddling Christmas than the entire summer combined. Slot allocation, runway limits and Colorado weather mean that flexibility is the most valuable asset.
The four busy windows
Christmas through New Year's (peak), X Games (mid-January), Presidents' weekend (mid-February), and Spring Break (mid-March). Slot prices and ground handling demand surge in each window.
Aircraft selection
ASE's altitude and runway eliminate the Global 7500 and G700 from consideration. A Challenger 350, Citation Latitude or Falcon 2000 are the standard heavy options. For larger groups, repositioning to EGE (Eagle) and helicoptering in is the routine workaround.
