Aspen sees more private jet movements over Christmas week than any other US destination — and the logistics of a high-season visit are non-trivial. Aspen-Pitkin County (ASE) is slot-controlled, weather-dependent, and runway-limited to medium-cabin aircraft.
Where to stay
The Little Nell remains the ski-in/ski-out gold standard. The St. Regis Aspen and Hotel Jerome handle larger groups. For families staying three weeks or more, a Red Mountain or Snowmass estate (typically 8–12 bedrooms with full staff) is the default.
The four mountains
Aspen Mountain for cruising and après, Highlands for the Bowl hike, Buttermilk for families and the X Games, Snowmass for sheer terrain. Private ski concierges from D&E or Four Mountain Sports handle equipment logistics.
Arrival
ASE has a maximum runway length and elevation that limits aircraft selection. A Challenger 350 or Citation Latitude is ideal; a G650 cannot land. Alternates include Rifle (RIL) and Eagle (EGE) with a helicopter or ground transfer.
