How far in advance must I book HND slots?

72 hours minimum for slot application; 7+ days recommended for guaranteed availability, especially around Japanese Golden Week, Obon and New Year. Last-minute HND slots are difficult.

Can I fly direct to Kyoto?

Osaka Itami (ITM) is the practical Kyoto field with 50-minute road transfer; Kobe (UKB) is an alternative. No fixed-wing jet field in Kyoto itself.
