AIRPORTS · GLOSSARY
Slot
A timed permission to take off or land at a slot-coordinated airport, typically issued in 10- to 15-minute windows by a designated coordinator.
IN PRACTICE
Slot-coordinated airports in business aviation include London Luton, London City, Cannes Mandelieu, Paris Le Bourget on busy days, Aspen and Sun Valley. Without a confirmed slot, a flight cannot legally operate.
Slot pressure on event weeks (Davos, Cannes, Super Bowl) is the most common reason an otherwise straightforward trip becomes complicated to arrange.
