Gulfstream G150 Charter

The Gulfstream G150 was IAI's replacement for the Astra SPX / G100 line — a 2006 clean-sheet mid-size design with a wider cabin cross-section, T-tail configuration and a Honeywell TFE731 powerplant, marketed under the Gulfstream brand from launch. Production ran from 2006 to 2016 with around 120 examples built. The G150 was Gulfstream's smallest and only mid-size offering during that period; when production ended Gulfstream withdrew from the mid-size market to focus on super-midsize and larger aircraft.

The G150 remains active in charter and pre-owned markets, backed by Gulfstream's global service network. For clients who want a Gulfstream badge on a mid-size mission — corporate flight departments, brand-conscious charter clients — the G150 is the natural choice.

Cabin dimensions: 17 feet 8 inches long, 5 feet 9 inches wide and 5 feet 9 inches tall. Standard layout is a seven-passenger club-four plus three-place divan. Cabin management on late-production aircraft is Rockwell Collins Venue with Iridium connectivity; Ka-band is uncommon.

Cabin altitude at FL410 is 8,000 ft — behind modern peers. Baggage volume is 80 cubic feet in a heated aft hold. The lavatory is fully enclosed with vanity. Cabin build quality reflects Gulfstream's standards — materials and finish visibly exceed most mid-size peers.

Twin Honeywell TFE731-40AR engines deliver 4,420 pounds of thrust each. Maximum operating Mach is 0.85 — fast for the class. Certified ceiling is FL450. NBAA IFR range with four passengers is 2,950 nautical miles — enough for transcontinental US, London to Dubai (with tech stop) or Dubai to Athens non-stop.

Balanced field length at MTOW is 5,000 ft. Landing distance is 2,880 ft. Runway performance is mid-pack for the class.

Charter hourly rates run $5,200–$6,500 in North America; €5,800–€7,000 in Europe. Empty-leg availability is thin because the fleet is small. Indicative pricing: New York to Aspen from $18,000; London to Rome from £15,000; Miami to New York from $16,000.

Against the Hawker 900XP the G150 offers similar range in a smaller cabin at comparable cost with Gulfstream brand cachet. Against the Praetor 500 or Legacy 450 the G150 gives up cabin size, cabin altitude and modern avionics.

Charter the G150 when Gulfstream brand and service network matter to the client on a mid-size mission and cabin size is not the dominant criterion. Refurbished aircraft with contemporary cabin management retrofits deliver a polished experience.

Prefer the Praetor 500 or Legacy 450 for a materially better modern mid-light alternative, or the Hawker 900XP for a larger cabin at comparable cost.
