Private Jet to Barbados: How to Fly Private to Grantley Adams (BGI)

How to fly a private jet to Barbados: nonstop options from New York, Miami and London, one-way prices by jet class, the BGI private terminals, the online arrival form and Mustique connections.

BY MARCUS WHITFIELD · USA · 8 MIN READ · OCTOBER 19, 2026

Barbados is one of the simplest Caribbean islands to reach by private jet. There is one airport, Grantley Adams International (BGI / TBPB), and its runway is long enough for every business jet we charter, from a light jet out of Miami to an ultra-long-range aircraft flying nonstop from London. The planning work is choosing the right cabin for your departure city, getting the arrival paperwork done before you leave, and deciding early whether the trip continues to Mustique. This is how we plan a Barbados charter on the desk.

The short answer

From Miami, every jet class flies nonstop, so a light or midsize jet is often enough. From New York, plan on a midsize jet or larger for a nonstop; a light jet needs a fuel stop. From London, a heavy or ultra-long-range jet flies it nonstop, and smaller cabins stop for fuel.

Indicative one-way prices on our route data run from about €8,700 from Miami, €15,400 nonstop from New York and €54,800 nonstop from London, all-in. Send us your departure city, dates, passengers, bags and any pets, and we come back with all-inclusive options in about 10 minutes, 24/7.

Where you land: Grantley Adams International (BGI)

Grantley Adams is on the south-east of the island in Christ Church, and it is the only airport in Barbados. Its single runway is 11,000 ft (3,353 m) on published airport data, so runway length never limits aircraft choice here. On our destination data, the west-coast resort belt and Sandy Lane are about 20–40 minutes away by car.

Private passengers don't use the main terminal. Three private-aviation facilities operate on the field:

FacilityWhat it offers (as published by the operator)
Universal Aviation / M JetGated FBO with a private apron and two private hangars, 24/7 on request, customs and immigration in the FBO, and an on-site pet facility
Signature BGI (formerly IAM Jet Centre)Private terminal with on-site customs clearance; published hours 07:30–19:30 local, with call-out on request
Private Aircraft Services (PAS) Jet CentreHandling, fuel and technical stops; listed hours 08:00–20:00 local

The operator assigns the FBO for the aircraft we contract, and we confirm it before you travel so the car meets the right ramp. Universal Aviation's arrival guide says the walk from the aircraft to the car, including customs, can take about 10 minutes when the paperwork has been filed in advance.

Business-aviation guidance for TBPB notes that parking is first come, first served and that aircraft may have to reposition during busy periods, with high season running from November to April. That's why we book the FBO and parking together with the aircraft for winter trips.

Which private jets can fly to Barbados nonstop?

It depends almost entirely on where you start.

  • From Miami (about 1,400 nm): every class we price flies nonstop, from light jets upward.
  • From New York (Teterboro, about 1,835 nm): midsize, super-midsize, heavy and ultra-long-range jets fly nonstop. A light jet needs one fuel stop, typically in Florida, the Bahamas or Turks and Caicos.
  • From London (Farnborough, about 3,630 nm): heavy and ultra-long-range jets fly nonstop. Midsize and super-midsize jets need a fuel stop.

Flight times and indicative prices

These figures come from our live Barbados destination page. They're indicative one-way, all-in estimates by aircraft class, and the final quote depends on dates, where the aircraft is based and the return plan.

One-way, round trip, or the aircraft stays?

For a week in Barbados, what the aircraft does during your stay matters more than the hourly rate:

  1. The aircraft stays. Good for short trips. You pay crew accommodation and parking, but nobody flies empty.
  2. The aircraft goes home and comes back. Better for longer stays, but it adds two empty sectors, which we price openly.
  3. Two one-ways. If a return charter or empty leg lines up, a separate return can be cheaper. If none is available, the empty flight home is built into a one-way quote.

Arrival: the online travel form and APIS

Barbados clears passengers and crew in the FBO, but the paperwork starts before you leave.

  • Online Immigration and Customs Form. Every traveller completes the Government of Barbados form at travelform.gov.bb. The portal opens it 72 hours before arrival, and the receipts are emailed to you to show on arrival. FBO guidance for private flights asks for passenger and crew forms at least 24 hours before arrival. We send you the link with the trip confirmation.
  • CARICOM APIS. As a CARICOM member state, Barbados requires advance passenger information for everyone on board, filed before departure. The operator files it from the passport details we collect.
  • Charter landing permits. Business-aviation guidance for TBPB says charter flights need a landing permit, typically processed in three to five business days, and recommends allowing up to ten. This is one reason we ask for passport details early on short-notice trips.

Flying home to the US? Your first US landing has to be at an airport with customs, and the operator files the US advance passenger information before departure. We plan the return field (often a South Florida airport or Teterboro) around customs hours.

Flying to Barbados with your dog or cat

Pets are welcome, but Barbados has strict import rules, and they apply on a private jet the same as on an airline. From the USDA's published requirements for pets travelling from the US to Barbados and the Barbados Veterinary Services Department:

  • Every dog and cat needs an import permit from the Veterinary Services Department, valid for six months from issue.
  • The pet must have an ISO microchip and a rabies vaccination given after the chip was implanted. After a primary vaccination, or a booster given late, there's a 35-day wait before the pet can enter.
  • Dogs over six months need a heartworm test within 30 days before leaving the US, and dogs need tick and tapeworm treatment within 7 days before leaving.
  • The US counts as a Category 1 (low rabies risk) country for Barbados. Pets that have spent the previous three months in a Category 2 country face extra requirements, including a rabies antibody test.

On arrival, the pet clears customs and veterinary checks, and FBO guidance says a local customs broker handles the clearance. The crew sends a pre-alert so everyone in Barbados knows an animal is on board. We build these steps into the trip plan, starting with the permit.

Going on to Mustique

Barbados is the usual jet gateway for Mustique. The Mustique airstrip is about 990 m long on published runway data, and jets don't use it, so the last hop of roughly 100 nm is flown in a small propeller aircraft. Mustique Airways operates charters across the Grenadines from Barbados. We time that connection to your jet's arrival and move the luggage on the ramp. See our Mustique page for the details, and book both legs together in high season, when seats on the onward flights are limited.

Timing and empty legs

On our destination data, the busiest fortnight is Christmas to New Year (about 19 December 2026 to 3 January 2027), when we recommend asking for estimates 6–8 weeks ahead. Caribbean high season runs from mid-December to April, and Friday and Sunday departures from New York fill first.

Aircraft that drop clients in the Caribbean often fly back empty toward Florida and the Northeast. When one lines up with your dates, it can be well below the on-demand fare. Our cost guide puts empty-leg pricing typically 25–75% below the hourly rates.

  1. Get an on-demand quote so you have a firm Plan A.
  2. Set an empty-leg alert for Barbados in both directions, or run a quick AI empty-leg search.
  3. If a matching leg appears in your window, we confirm the operator, the exact aircraft and the all-in price before you commit.
