Jackson Hole is one of the few ski and national-park destinations in the US where a private jet lands almost at the door. Jackson Hole Airport (JAC) sits 7 miles north of the town of Jackson, and it is the only commercial airport inside a US national park: Grand Teton. That location shapes everything about a private flight here: a single 6,300 ft runway at 6,451 ft elevation, one FBO with limited ramp space, and a voluntary noise curfew that the airport takes seriously. None of that makes Jackson Hole difficult. It just means the trip is planned around the airport. This is how we do it on the charter desk.
The short answer
- Airport: Jackson Hole Airport (JAC / KJAC), 7 miles north of Jackson, Wyoming. One runway, 1/19, 6,300 × 150 ft, grooved asphalt, ILS approaches. Field elevation 6,451 ft.
- FBO: one, Jackson Hole Flight Services, run by the airport. A PPR (prior permission) number is required for any overnight stay, and ramp space is limited.
- Curfew: voluntary, 9:30 pm to 7:00 am local, for landings and take-offs. Operators who ignore it receive a violation letter and a lower Fly Quiet score.
- Customs: none. JAC has no international passenger processing. Flights from abroad clear US customs first, for example at Salt Lake City or at Bozeman's user-fee facility.
- Jets that fit: light jets through super-midsize and large-cabin jets operate at JAC; the airline schedule even includes Boeing 757-200s and Airbus A320s. At this altitude, the runway sets the payload and fuel plan rather than ruling out a cabin class.
Send us your dates, passengers, skis and bags, and you get an estimated price per aircraft class straight away, then two or three confirmed options within 1–2 hours, 24/7. The Jackson Hole destination page is the charter desk's page for the same trip.
Where you land
| Airport | Runway (FAA data) | Elevation | When we use it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Jackson Hole (JAC / KJAC), Jackson, WY | 1/19: 6,300 × 150 ft | 6,451 ft | The default for almost every trip: closest to town, Teton Village and Grand Teton National Park |
| Driggs-Reed Memorial (DIJ / KDIJ), Driggs, ID | 4/22: 7,301 × 100 ft | 6,257 ft | Over Teton Pass on the Idaho side; a planned alternative when the JAC ramp is full or for Teton Valley homes. No control tower |
| Idaho Falls Regional (IDA / KIDA), Idaho Falls, ID | 3/21: 9,002 × 150 ft | 4,744 ft | About 58 nm west by air at a much lower elevation; a weather or payload alternate, with a longer drive |
JAC's rules worth knowing. The FAA's airport remarks note that JAC is a cold-temperature airport, that noise abatement procedures apply to departures on runway 19, that a de-icing pad sits at the north end of Taxiway A, and that severe winter conditions are possible from November to April. They also warn that aircraft which fail to touch down within the first third of the runway sometimes fail to stop on it. That is why operators send crews who know the field and plan landings at JAC carefully.
The FBO. Jackson Hole Flight Services handles fuel, de-icing, parking and passenger service. Ramp space is limited because of the national-park location, hangar space is reserved for based customers, and de-icing is busiest between 07:00 and 14:00 local. Cars can be brought planeside if the FBO has the passenger name and tail number in advance. We send those details with the handling request.
Published corridors into JAC include San Francisco, Los Angeles, Dallas, Chicago, New York and Boston.
The curfew and the Fly Quiet program
JAC asks all aircraft not to land or take off between 9:30 pm and 7:00 am local. Federal law (the Airport Noise and Capacity Act) stops the airport from making the curfew mandatory, but the airport sends violation letters, and every jet operator is scored each quarter under its Fly Quiet Program. Operators who fly JAC often care about that score.
What it means for you: plan the arrival for daylight and evening hours. If your day starts late on the East Coast, a 4.5-hour flight can easily push the arrival past 9:30 pm Mountain Time. We'll tell you at quote stage if a schedule runs into the curfew and suggest an earlier departure or an overnight stop.
Which private jets suit a Jackson Hole trip?
At 6,451 ft, the air is thin. On a warm summer afternoon or with a full fuel load, aircraft need more runway to take off. The operator runs the performance numbers for the actual date, temperature and weight. In practice:
- From Denver, Salt Lake City, Las Vegas or Seattle (about 180–540 nm): a light jet such as a Phenom 300 or Citation CJ3+, or a turboprop like a Pilatus PC-12 for shorter hops.
- From California and Texas (about 640–1,120 nm): light and midsize jets fly it nonstop. A midsize such as a Citation XLS+ or Latitude is the comfortable choice with skis and full bags.
- From Chicago (about 1,010 nm): midsize for most groups.
- From New York, Boston or Florida (about 1,630–1,800 nm): a super-midsize such as a Challenger 350 (listed at 3,200 nm range on our aircraft pages) or a Latitude (2,700 nm). Light jets listed around 2,000 nm can fly it in good conditions with a lighter load, but winter headwinds westbound and the altitude at JAC mean a midsize or super-midsize gives a better margin. We do not plan New York or Boston as a light-jet nonstop.
- From London or Europe (about 4,050 nm from Farnborough): a heavy or ultra-long-range jet, with a first stop in the US to clear customs, since JAC has none. A nonstop from Europe into JAC is not possible for any passenger flight.
Skis and golf bags. Ski bags are long. Light jets carry a few; for a family of four with skis, boots and winter luggage, we usually recommend a midsize or larger with a bigger baggage hold. Tell us how many ski bags at booking and the operator confirms they fit.
Flight times
Estimates from great-circle distance and typical cruise speeds. Winds (westbound headwinds in winter especially), routing and the aircraft change the final block time, and the operator confirms it in the quote. Each city below uses one class.
| From | Distance to JAC (approx.) | Typical block time |
|---|---|---|
| Denver (Centennial) | 360 nm | light jet about 1 h 10 min |
| Las Vegas | 495 nm | light jet about 1 h 30 min |
| San Francisco | 640 nm | light jet about 1 h 50 min |
| Los Angeles (Van Nuys) | 670 nm | light jet about 1 h 55 min |
| Dallas (Love Field) | 920 nm | midsize about 2 h 30 min |
| Chicago (O'Hare) | 1,010 nm | midsize about 2 h 45 min |
| Houston (Hobby) | 1,120 nm | midsize about 3 h |
| New York (Teterboro / White Plains) | 1,630 nm | super-midsize about 4 h |
| Boston | 1,730 nm | super-midsize about 4 h 15 min |
| Palm Beach | 1,800 nm | super-midsize about 4 h 20 min |
What a private jet to Jackson Hole costs
We don't publish fixed route prices for Jackson Hole, so the honest starting point is our published hourly rates. From our cost-per-hour guide, 2026 retail rates run:
| Class | Typical aircraft | Hourly rate (USD) |
|---|---|---|
| Light jet | Phenom 300, Citation CJ3+ | $3,500–$5,500 |
| Midsize | Hawker 900XP, Citation XLS+ | $5,500–$7,500 |
| Super-midsize | Challenger 350, Praetor 600 | $7,500–$9,500 |
| Heavy | Falcon 7X, Challenger 605 | $9,500–$13,000 |
As a rough illustration, not a quote: Dallas to Jackson Hole in a midsize, at about 2.5 hours, is around $13,750–$18,750 of flight time. New York to Jackson Hole in a super-midsize, at about 4 hours, is around $30,000–$38,000. The real figure depends on where the aircraft is based, whether it waits for you or flies home empty, and the date. Mountain airports add de-icing and performance planning on top of the hourly rate.
Three things push Jackson Hole prices up:
- Peak weeks. Christmas to New Year and Presidents' Day week in winter, and July and August in summer, are when the most jets want the same small ramp.
- Repositioning. Few charter jets are based in Jackson. Most fly in from Denver, Salt Lake City or further, and on a one-way trip the empty return leg is usually in the price.
- Winter extras. De-icing, overnight parking and hangar costs (if a hangar is available at all) are added in winter. Our quotes include them and flag them up front.
Empty legs. Jets often reposition out of Jackson after a busy weekend. Our empty-leg alerts watch JAC in both directions; when one lines up, it is typically 25–75% below the retail rate.
When to go
Jackson Hole has two seasons, not one. Jackson Hole Mountain Resort opens on 27 November 2026 for the 2026–27 winter. But the airport's own 2025 traffic report shows its busiest months are July and August, when Grand Teton and Yellowstone draw visitors: 76,791 airline passengers boarded at JAC in July 2025 and 76,248 in August, against 47,480 in January. Summer is a full peak season for private aviation here, not a quiet one. Q1 remains high for ski.
The quietest windows are April–May and late October–November, between the seasons.
Arriving: what you need
- From anywhere in the US: it's a domestic flight. A government-issued photo ID is all you need; there is no customs.
- From abroad: JAC has no customs. The aircraft lands first at an airport with US Customs and Border Protection, such as Salt Lake City, Bozeman's user-fee facility, or your first US stop on the way. The operator files the APIS manifest and gets CBP's permission to land before leaving the foreign airport. Non-US passengers need the usual ESTA or visa.
- Who flies you within the US: a US domestic leg must be flown by a US operator. Foreign-registered charter aircraft can't carry paying passengers between two US airports (cabotage rules). We source US Part 135 operators for every domestic Jackson Hole flight.
On the ground
From JAC, it's about 7 miles to the town of Jackson, and Teton Village and the national park are close by. We arrange a car to meet you planeside. Pick-up trucks and SUVs with winter tyres are the norm here in winter, and we book accordingly.

Frequently asked questions
- Which airport do private jets use for Jackson Hole?
- Jackson Hole Airport (JAC), 7 miles north of Jackson inside Grand Teton National Park. Its single runway is 6,300 ft long at 6,451 ft elevation. Driggs (DIJ) in Idaho and Idaho Falls (IDA) are the usual alternatives.
- Is there a curfew at Jackson Hole Airport?
- Yes, a voluntary one: no landings or take-offs between 9:30 pm and 7:00 am local. It can't be enforced by law, but the airport sends violation letters and scores operators in its Fly Quiet Program, so we plan arrivals before 9:30 pm.
- Can a large jet land at Jackson Hole?
- Yes. Super-midsize and large-cabin business jets operate at JAC, and airlines fly Boeing 757-200s and Airbus A320s there. At 6,451 ft elevation, the operator may limit fuel or payload on hot days or when the runway is contaminated. We check that before confirming the aircraft.
- How long is a private jet flight to Jackson Hole?
- About 1 h 50 min from San Francisco, 2 h 30 min from Dallas, 2 h 45 min from Chicago and roughly 4 hours from New York in a super-midsize, depending on winds.
- How much does a private jet to Jackson Hole cost?
- At our published 2026 hourly rates, Dallas to Jackson Hole in a midsize is roughly $13,750–$18,750 of flight time, and New York to Jackson Hole in a super-midsize roughly $30,000–$38,000, before the return plan and fees. Send your dates for an estimate per aircraft class.
- Can I fly directly to Jackson Hole from Europe?
- Not without a stop. JAC has no customs facility, so international flights clear US customs first, for example at Salt Lake City or Bozeman, then continue to Jackson Hole as a domestic flight with a US operator.
- Do I need to reserve parking for the aircraft?
- The operator does. Jackson Hole Flight Services requires a PPR number for any overnight stay, and ramp space is limited in peak weeks. We request it when we book.
