Gulfstream G500 Charter

The Gulfstream G500 entered service in 2018 as a clean-sheet replacement for the G450 — new Pratt & Whitney Canada PW814GA engines, an all-new wing, Gulfstream's Symmetry active-control side-stick flight deck, and a cabin refined for the current decade. The G500 is Gulfstream's core heavy jet, sitting between the super-midsize G280 and the ultra-long-range G600/G650.

For charter the G500 is the modern Gulfstream heavy — the aircraft to specify when Gulfstream service network, contemporary cabin experience and 5,300 nm of range are simultaneously required. It sits directly against the Challenger 650, Falcon 900LX and Bombardier Global 5500 in the eight-to-fourteen-passenger transatlantic segment.

Cabin dimensions: 41 feet 6 inches long, 7 feet 7 inches wide and 6 feet 2 inches tall — Gulfstream widebody, three-zone. Standard layout is a 14-passenger three-zone configuration with forward club-four, mid-cabin conference group and aft three-place divan with berthing. Cabin management is standard PlaneView Cabin with 4K HD monitors, Bluetooth pairing and Ka-band Wi-Fi.

Cabin altitude at FL450 is 4,850 ft — best in class alongside the Challenger 650. Gulfstream's 100 per cent fresh-air ventilation system replaces cabin air every two minutes. Baggage volume is 175 cubic feet accessed in-flight. The lavatory is fully enclosed with vanity, natural light and belted seat.

Twin Pratt & Whitney Canada PW814GA engines deliver 15,144 pounds of thrust each. Maximum operating Mach is 0.925; long-range cruise Mach 0.85. Certified ceiling is FL510. NBAA IFR range with eight passengers is 5,300 nautical miles — enough for New York to Frankfurt, London to Dubai and back with a stop, Los Angeles to Honolulu, or Dubai to Singapore with headwind margin.

Balanced field length at MTOW is 5,300 ft. Landing distance is 3,200 ft. Runway performance is competitive; Gulfstream's Symmetry side-stick flight deck offers materially improved pilot situational awareness over the traditional yoke arrangement.

Charter hourly rates run $12,000–$14,500 in North America; €12,500–€15,000 in Europe. Empty-leg availability is thin — the fleet is young and premium. Indicative pricing: New York to Frankfurt from $110,000; London to Dubai from £75,000; Los Angeles to Honolulu from $75,000.

Against the G450 the G500 adds 500 nm of range, modern Symmetry avionics, quieter cabin and 4,850 ft cabin altitude at 30–40 per cent higher cost. Against the Challenger 650 the G500 offers Gulfstream service network and 1,300 nm more range at higher cost. The G500 is the modern Gulfstream heavy of choice for premium charter clients.
